Fr. Mark Zittle, O.Carm
Father Mark is Carmelite Friar of the North American Province of St. Elias. Before entering religious life he worked in sales and management, including a formative experience in the field of international relief and development. Ordained May 19, 2012, Fr. Mark has enjoyed a variety of life giving assignments including parish ministry, development, campus ministry, and provincial administration.
As a Carmelite Priest, Fr. Mark has come to understand that we often experience the love of God in how we care for each other. When we experience this – when we become Christ for others, peoples’ hearts acquire an attitude of openness to God’s presence in both the ordinary and extraordinary moments of life. This is the gift of contemplation in action. The Carmelite Ratio puts it this way:
The inner process which leads to the development of the contemplative dimension helps us to acquire an attitude of openness to God's presence in life, teaches us to see the world with God's eyes, and inspires us to seek, recognize, love and serve God in those around us. (Ratio, 24)
