Carmelites Plan New House of Studies
To Meet Rising Demands in Vietnam
|
Having served as Regional Superior and Formation Director in Vietnam
for eight years, Fr. Mario Esposito, O. Carm., is acutely aware of the
needs faced by the rapidly growing Carmelite community there.
"When we opened our first House in 1996, we could not imagine that we
would outgrow it so quickly," Fr. Mario said.
Now back in the U.S., and having been elected Prior Provincial of St.
Elias Province, Fr. Mario is leading a fund-raising campaign for the construction
of a new House of Studies for student Friars in Vietnam.
"A steady increase in the number of men stepping forward to serve in
Carmel has created a severe shortage of space for housing and education,"
Fr. Mario explained. "And we would hate to turn any of these men
away from their calling." |
